Stuffed Shells

These are not your usual stuffed shells.  They contain no cheese in the filling because my son won’t eat them any other way.  Add a salad to complete the meal.

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 30 shells
  • 2 –  15 oz cans of tomato sauce
  • shredded mozzarella

Preheat oven to 350F.

Brown ground beef in skillet.  When done, turn off heat and add seasoned bread crumbs to skillet.  Stir in bread crumbs until moistened by pan liquid.  Let cool.

Boil shells until soft, but not fully cooked, by reducing cooking time by 1-2 minutes.  Drain and cool.

Empty one can of sauce into 9 x 11 baking dish.  Fill shells with meat and place into baking dish.  Spread any leftover beef filling over shells.  Pour second can of sauce evenly over shells.  Top with mozzarella.

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Serves 5-6.
