This past year, in November, I decided to take a stab at NaNoWriMo, an annual event where one writes a novel during the month of November. I haven’t finished this one yet, but I have finished a section of it and wish to share it with you. If you think this is something you would read if published (cheaply on Amazon), please let me know in the comments.
Victor Danforth didn’t take kindly to anyone who meddled in his business. And he wasn’t afraid of Lucas Randolph, even though he should have been.
“Why, exactly, are you trying to kill a doctor? Especially if she isn’t a threat to anyone,” Lucas asked as he tapped his fingers on the arms of the chair.
“Because that witch has been sticking her nose into my business. And if you keep doing the same, you’ll be next on the list.” Victor leaned back in his chair and lit a cigar.
Lucas smiled. “Which business would that be?” He stood up and crossed the room to the window and peeked out the curtain. “I can’t imagine that she’d do much harm to your real estate schemes. After all, they’re all legitimate.” Lucas walked over to the office door and turned back to face Victor. “She’d be more of a threat to me.”
“Trust me, sooner or later she will be,” Victor tamped the ashes off the end of his cigar, “I’m doing you a favor.”
“Do me a bigger one and leave her alone.”
Danforth angrily stubbed out his cigar after Lucas left. He had worked hard to build his real estate empire. It had been necessary to sacrifice some lives in the process. “I’d off that guy if he weren’t already dead,” he muttered just as his phone rang.
