The Devil Is In The Details

After some words of encouragement, I have started writing my fan fiction story. However, I’m wondering if I’m going about it “correctly”. I have a slew of questions.

  • What makes good (readable) fan fiction?
  • How detailed should the story be?
  • Should I assume that the reader will know his way around?
  • Should I write the story in the present tense?
  • Should I attempt to write the story for someone unfamiliar with the show?
  • Does any of that matter?
